Description.  A series of paintings by Maryjane Orley

Five paintings and a triptych made in response to the site, experimenting with a range of different materials, some gathered from the place itself. Each of them were inspired by different elements of the site, such as the sound, the haunting sense of absence, disappearance and loss, the violence of the destruction of the greenhouses and finally the juxtaposition between the energy of human effort and the extraordinary force of the earth. Each painting explores how to represent the seen and the unseen.
